"Bush considers the matter closed".

I'm sure he does. So Tenet imitates Poindexter's sword impaling act. [BTW, what’s the Iris (Poindexter) of Sauron’s eye doing these days?] The way this (taking a “fall” for the “big guy”) keeps happening in Repub admins (Nixon, Reagan and Bush), you wonder if the Republican National Committee has a special training seminar?

If the matter is “closed”, too bad. Back when the forgeries were first reveled, I said this could be big. It wasn’t that I thought the forgeries could bring down Bush, but, like Watergate, a cover-up involving the President could. Whether it ever “comes out” or not, having engaged (or been aware of) a cover-up, leaves the President vulnerable. An important vulnerability? We’ll see.

Meanwhile, how about a Dylan duet?

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'. {But soon enough?}

But you probably already know the words.

ep:

Around the world there is a call for answers as to why Bush made false claims about uranium in his SOTU address, people are not going to let it lie. Who gave wrote the false allegations, why did Bush add them to his speech without verifying them as fact when, in fact, his fallguy Tenet refuted them as unsubstantiated? ...Then again, it's been suggested Bush will continue to disallow investigations and may suspend elections in this country as he has in Afghanistan and Iraq.

"Following the admission by the CIA's director that he did not believe this claim, we must be told how it became so central to arguments deployed by Britain and the US. We need to be told the source of our intelligence, which the Government says is independent of fake documents which Washington now disavows. And we must be clear about when US intelligence first alerted the Government to their doubts.

Only a full public inquiry can answer these questions and the broader issues of the case for war. " Will this happen?
