karen carealike-

i'm not all that worked up over the uranium claim.
it's only one very small instance of propaganda
that the administration has flooded us with since
day one. there are hundreds of statements and actions
that have been perpetrated by this gang that have
been spun and twisted solely to deceive us and the
world in furtherance of an agenda to dominate the
world and secure wealth and power in the name of a
certain set of right wing christian "morals" that are
as far removed from the teachings of jesus christ
as they are from the ideals set forth in the constitution
and the bill of rights of the united states of america.
if you want to gauge the truth and honesty of a person
or a group you have only to watch their actions and deeds
and compare them to their words. if the deeds don't match
the words - you have deception and deception equals lying.

internationally, this world was becoming pretty well
connected and civilized as far as working together
in the development and protection of human rights
and economic cooperation in a spirit of fairness,
equality and interdependence.

the maniacal murders committed on septemper 11, 2001
were an atrocity planned and carried out by a handful
of fanatics against the civilized world - the WORLD
TRADE CENTER was the main target and people from over
80 countries were killed. the entire world was in
shock and grief and felt the sense of loss. there
was a global outpouring of empathy and support for
the united states and a widespread desire
to apprehend and bring responsible parties to trial
in an international court. this was a tremendous
opportunity for all countries to work together for
justice in a lawful manner thereby solidfying and
growing a stronger bond of trust between all peoples
of the world.

the first thing this administration did was declare
WAR on terrorists - what a crock. you don't declare
war on individual fanatics, you arrest them and bring
them to trial. you abide by law. because if you don't
you undermine law and render it useless. WAR is just
a tool for the lawless - it legalizes murder without
due process, without examined evidence, without jury,
without judge, without legal representation. anyone who
supports war, supports lawless murder - that is a simple
fact.

i do believe in the growth of human civilization. if you
recall the state of affairs on the north american
continent two and three hundred years ago - it was
a lawless land and there were wars here among different
peoples and groups. through a long process of living
and working together in an environment of interdependence,
agreements and laws replaced war as a solution to
dealing with differences and crimes like theft and murder.
can you imagine an internal war in the united states
anymore? not likely. not even with a catalyst like
the oklahoma city bombing - it would be crazy.

with the advances in communications, air travel,
international trade, coalitions like nato, nafta, the wto
and the united nations, we are growing into a planet
of one human family who will eventually live under
an international set of laws and justice. it will
happen - there is no doubt in my mind. it can happen
sooner if we welcome it and begin to work together
to develop international connectivity and cooperation.
or it can happen later if we continue with separate
agendas, international distrust and use weapons
outside the rule of law in efforts to dominate and
force other countries to submit to domination through
power... if you look at history you will see that
this tactic has ALWAYS failed - it only inspires and
promotes a revolt of the oppressed.

either way, humanity has a more civil and just future ahead.
do we want it sooner through cooperation, and a cooperative
international legal system or do we want it later through
war, failure, and revolt? i'm in favor of the former.

it is perfectly clear that the current administration is
leading us on the path of the latter. i've seen it since
day one (which was somewhere around the middle of january
of 2001). we didn't vote for that kind of path... we were
decived. some of the lies were merely lies of omission
(not openly sharing the real agenda). some of the lies
were outright pretensions and false representations of
an already accepted american agenda that they had no
intention of following. they were manipulating minds to
gain votes, support and power to further another, less
popular agenda.

i was unaware of the PNAC until i was first informed of
it here on this messageboard by lurqer. when i read
their published strategy of dominating the world and
taking control while we have no equal as a superpower...
and when i saw the list of the men who wrote and supported
this doctrine... then it was easy for me to see how
that agenda aligned perfectly with the actions of the bush
administration. i no longer was flabbergasted and confused
at how completely different their public words were
from their actions.

PNAC is an acronym for "The Project for a New American
Century". they used to have a website where they
proudly displayed their members, their strategies
and their beliefs at newamericancentury.org
if you try to visit it now you'll find nothing. i don't
know if their server is having problems or if they've
taken it down in an attempt to cover up a policy that
only a neo-conservative american could support.

there was a .pdf file entitled "REBUILDING AMERICA’S
DEFENSES -- Strategy, Forces and Resources For a New
Century on the website. i saved it on my hard drive
and i suspect that others have it posted on their websites.

<pauses to do a google search for the document>

i found many sites that talk about the document,
quote the document, and deride the document but
they almost all link to the above, original website
which seems to be gone... i don't really want to
post a link to a leftist site opining about it because
it's better to read the actual document as written by
the PNAC with an open mind and form your own opinions.

<does more google searching>

...i finally found one that has the entire text of the
document with very little other comment on it... scroll
down past the first six paragraphs to read it:

the statement about the uranium is moot for me
because i'd never buy that as a reason to
declare WAR. i'd fight to STOP a war but
i'd never START a war.
