35 years ago the US gov't denied the existence of NSA. It was called "No Such Agency" to those who did know of it. That's changed. Now the NSA runs ads in papers seeking employees.

Even move forward to the NRO. There was a time when you couldn't say NRO...now they have their own website! As does NSA.

I think the launch of aircraft off the carrier were on their way to Cairo. I member off the carrier, said there were standing orders to attack Cairo if a US ship were attacked. I think the only thing you can extract out of that is that becomes the rationale for the Israelis. If the Israelis believe that an attack on US ships will result in an attack on Cairo...it makes sense.

But, I think the more interesting aspect is that members from the carrier claim that the Admiral was not allowed to send help to the USS Liberty, first by the SECDEF and then by Johnson personnally. I don't recall the exact length of time, but I think it was a few days before the Liberty saw any US Forces. That's not right, something is going on. Then the theory becomes that Johnson was hoping that the Liberty would go under if left alone for a while.

Too many loose strings for me.
