Thought I might pass on a little tidbit I heard today. If you all recall, we had a helicopter lost during that big "recon by fire" raid against the Hammurabi Division during the war and the pilots were captured...

Well, no one seemed to explain why the chopper went down since it didn't appear to have suffered any damage.

Well, the "rumour" has it that the pilot was feeding fuel out of his main fuel tank, and not his drop tanks, which is just the reverse of what he should have done.

So when they all dropped those auxiliary tanks to engage the enemy, his drop tanks were full and his main tank almost empty..

He ran out of gas in a $15 million airframe, and the media was quick to blame it on mechanical malfunction of the helicopter itself.

Can you say "Pilot Error"??
