Does the buck stop with the president OR will he be like his good friend Ken Lay and deny everything...? I respect leaders that are honest AND take complete responsibility for their actions. Sending our young folks over to fight in Iraq was a huge decision...Was it truly a last resort...? Was there really an 'imminent threat'...? Was intelligence used selectively or exagerated to help build a case for war...? This is serious stuff folks...We have soldiers getting killed every week in Iraq and our country deserves some answers...Will The White House and The Defense Department actually tell us the truth...?

Here's a piece on Jefferson's 1793 Adam and Eve letter to the US ambassador to Paris - theatlantic.com

'... It was necessary to use the arm
of the people, a machine not quite so blind as balls and bombs,
but blind to a certain degree. A few of their cordial friends met
at their hands the fate of enemies. But time and truth will rescue
& embalm their memories, while their posterity will be enjoying
that very liberty for which they would never have hesitated to
offer up their lives. The liberty of the whole earth was
depending on the issue of the contest, and was ever such a
prize won with so little innocent blood? My own affections
have been deeply wounded by some of the martyrs to this
cause, but rather than it should have failed,
I would have seen
half the earth desolated. Were there but an Adam & an Eve left
in every country, & left free, it would be better than as it now
.. '

He is referring there to indiscriminate use of the guillotine, of course, and presumably would personally define 'free' .... this would have been quite a struggle, because it had been royalist France who had supported the rebels of the thirteen colonies, as a way of attacking the british where they were weak, so it would have set up some fine points of contention with the rebels' stated principles of liberty .... this looks quite interesting, will study it later - yale.edu
