If they expected to be "slimed", why didn't they wear them, as our troops did? There is an old adage in medical school:"When you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras". In other words, reach for the obvious explanation first, and only after it has not checked out, go for the exotic. In this case, the obvious explanation is that the suits were there in case the Iraqis decided to use VX against us.
