<The United States is thus, automatically, the enemy of Iraq.>

I will grant you that, if Saddam Hussain had the means, he might have tried to conquer the entire Middle East, and then maybe the world. But this horrible spectre is a phantom, a scary NeoCon bedtime Fairy Tale. Why? Because Iraq did not have the means. No matter what they wanted to do, they were not a threat to America's national security, because their capabilities were nil.

<The United States is the chief status quo power...>

The U.S. is the run by a cabal of revolutionary militant utopians, who deny the sovereignty of every other nation on earth.

<...largely supports the international system....>

Then why have we shredded so many treaties? Why have we ignored every international organization? Why do the NeoCons constantly attack NATO, the UN, the ICC, the Kyoto treaty, the Geneva Conventions, etc., etc.?

<...and tries to keep change peaceful and incremental...>

Yes, we've just had an excellent example, in Iraq, of peaceful and incremental change, right? And, by refusing to negotiate with N. Korea, because negotiation equals appeasement, they are ensuring peaceful and incremental change there, too. Sure.

It seems, the existence of Iraqi WMD has become a matter of Faith for NeoCons. Like angels and the Holy Ghost, Iraqi WMD can exist, in spite of the fact that nobody can see, touch, hear, taste, or smell them. Chanting in unison, "They exist", or, alternately, "We never said they existed", has become an exercise in group solidarity, for NeoCons. You prove your loyalty to the Cause, by chanting lies. Some of you seem to be able to chant both lies at the same time, ignoring the fact that they are mutually contradictory.
