So in other words you think Saddam was just a poor misunderstood dictator?

Orca,

Re: Remember the chaos when OPEC turned the screw back in the 70's?

Yes, I remember this quite well. But what wasn't well known then or now is that the 1973 oil shock was a contrived crisis, much like the phony electricity crisis in California in 2000-1.

While the media was telling the American public that OPEC had cut the U.S. off from crude oil supplies, what the media wasn't reporting was that oil tankers were stacking up with loads of product in the Gulf of Mexico, as the major oil companies were using the phony crisis as leverage in Congress to get the authorizing legislation for the Trans-Alaska Pipeline which had been stalled in committee hearings.

I've gotten independent confirmation of this deception from a couple of pilots who saw the crude carriers stacked up in the Gulf.

Interesting. Isn't it? A government and an oil industry would deceive the American public? Who knew? <g>

Past is prologue....

If this war was about liberating the Iraqi people and ridding Iraq of Saddam, then why are we not sending troops to Liberia, Congo, Botswana, Rwanda and Somalia?
Hey, great idea!

But why stop there? Let's just keep going. We and the Brits will conquer the world!

Let's start with France, Belgium, and Germany, OK? :-)
