The recall should not be about personalities or parties but solutions. The current solution is tough medicine either way. Davis has put forth a compromise plan which is 2/3 spending cuts and 1/3 tax hikes. The GOP wants 100% spending cuts and these include shutting down very popular programs like kindergarden for kids. The GOP look like the real grinches here, targeting kids, old people and the poor just so they dont have to pay an extra few hundred bucks on their Mercedes Benzes and Cadillacs. Incidentally, the car tax Davis wants is the same rate it was under Pete Wilson. It's not a huge deal and taxes that will encourage people to use more public transport are not such a bad idea. Many of our brand new buses drive around practically empty all day. No taxes are popular but remember the GOP also wants to eliminate tens of thousands more jobs as well at a bad time to be adding to unemployment. The half cent sales tax hike is not that significent. Personally, I buy almost everything but groceries over the internet anyway so pay very little sales tax.
