If deficits aren't bad then why rag on Davis?
The GOP cant have it both ways. They villainize Davis
for a 38 billion deficit (even though much of it was
due to energy ripoffs by GOP-allied corporate crooks),
then they want to give GW a pass for over 500 billion
deficits per year (when you add in the cost of the war). Bush promises to cut those in half by 2006 (when he may not be around) but he dosn't know this. It's just a hopeful guess.

Also, the hypocrisy from the party of "small government" is astounding. So much so even Jack Kemp's Concord Coalition is calling GW the most irresponsible fiscal president in memory.

Bush is slashing taxes during a war and recession, then also trying to triangulate by suggesting we expand the government, even though he doesn't really mean it. And the big spending has never stopped or even slowed down. On the contrary. And now they want to keep building up the military so we can occupy 80 countries instead of 70.

Finally, Bush claims his tax cuts are to create jobs and growth, yet they are aimed at the top tax brackets, the least likely type of tax cut to create jobs, and shortfalls at the state level guarantee massive layoffs there. Also there is no direct tax incentive to companies to create jobs or to keep them in this country. And companpies like Halliburton which are reaping the greatest rewards are allowed to have all their offshore tax haven accounts so much of the Bushie oil/defense profits will be tax-free.

At the very least, Bush has a serious priority and honesty problem. More probably, this is a secret plan to bankrupt our federal government so that Social Security and Medicare are go belly up before the Baby Boomers start retiring, even though those retiring workers will have already paid for those beenfits. So where did all the money go? We are talking trillions here. Some experts predict a 44 trillion dollar deficit if all Bush policies remain in place by 2013. Outrageous. Voodoo Economics at its worst.
