You are wrong on "ironic". The firehouse story is ironic because it is very likely to be true. The other is not ironic because it is very unlikely to be true and very likely to be hateful propaganda, the kind that led to the world twiddling its thumbs while 1/2 of the victim group was murdered.

Maybe, you can come up with some "ironic" stories about the NAACP joining with the KKK, or families of the victims of 9/11 joining with Al Qaida.

And what if the firemen in question were:
(1) Talking all the time on firemen and firemen issues on public threads, which indicates they don't have a problem talking about their profession
(2) Claiming no firemen could ever do such a thing as in the story. Anywhere. Anytime.

Would that not be very strange?
