The NYT, Reuters, and CNN are all running the story that a "commander" of the 101st is confirming the death of Saddam's sons. If true, there is now almost no possibility of a Saddam dynasty returning to power. Very good news.

Chances of a success in Iraq have gone up considerably. A big blow to the guerilla movement. A huge morale boost to our troops. Now if only the administration grants Bremer's request for more money and people ...

STATEMENT REGARDING OPERATION IN MOSUL, IRAQ

Statement from US Central Command:

On Tuesday, July 22, forces associated with the 101st Airborne Division and Special Operations Forces conducted an operation against suspected regime figures at a residence in Mosul, Iraq. The site is currently being exploited. Four Iraqis were killed in the operation. We have confirmed that two of the dead were Saddam’s sons Uday and Qusay.
