Defending ourselves against terrorists is a legitimate role for government and one that I am very willing to pay for. I believe that most (if not all) sane people would agree.

Poor excuse.
Both parties seem to have no end to their need to spend money.

Maybe there should be constitutional amendment that
requires the US government to have a balanced budget?
