I would agree with most of your post if DA's, and the police didn't have so much pressure to come up with a conviction in those heinous murder cases. Political pressure, media pressure, career advancement pressure, racism, lack of funds for a good defense etc. can and do lead to immoral actions by the police and DA's and subsequent wrongful convictions. You can't bring back the dead, nor will killing the offender do a lot to heal the friends and relatives of the victim, so why allow the possibility of incurring the very same fate on a wrongly convicted person and their friends and family. It takes work to think of a greater terror than waiting to be walked into an execution chamber after being framed or mistakenly convicted of a murder that I did not commit.
