Iraq had the facilities to create WMD, and even if they destroyed them and kept the destruction secret they would have had the knowledge and money to rebuild them. Any facilities that existed after 1991 were destroyed. Their destruction was not a secret; they were forced to destroy them by the weapons inspectors. Bush's whole theory was predicated on the supposition that new facilities had been built. During Powell's presentation to the UN, he pointed out what he thought were new facilities with suspicious looking trucks pulling up to them. Clearly, Powell was in the same throes of paranoia as Bush or a part of the spin machine. Chemical weapons can be created by any country that has a chemical industry and experience in creating chemical weapons, Iraq had all the facilities it needed to create chemical weapons or at least somewhat primitive and imperfect bio weapons. Then why can't they find the facilities? There are none, that's why. The sucker was broke. The best he could afford was building palaces. Nuclear bomb creation would require large advanced facilities that Iraq apparently did not have, or at least did not have enough of. No surprise there. They could have made small batches of chemical weapons a few hours from Saddam giving the order, they could have set up assembly line production of vast quantities of chemical weapons in a relatively short time. The only thing they may have been locked out of (at least in the short term) was nukes. Even if they could create bio WMD, they had no place to store them. They would degrade in a very short period of time. Why don't you read the reports coming out? The reason people like me are p*ssed is because they're finding zilch. Whatever Iraq was in 1991, its third world now. Remember how before the war, the Republic Guard was supposed to be these fierce fighters. Its a joke.......everything related to Saddam was trumped up by the Bush administration to make him look as dangerous and evil as possible. D.Ray knows it; others on the GW Bush thread know it; may be you do too.....they don't care that Bush lied. In fact, they won't say he lied but they hint they knew he was spinning the whole Saddam is a threat thing. They don't care.....they wanted Saddam gone for a whole host of reasons. These people believe that if the gov't is made up of Reps., it should do whatever it thinks is best and the people be damned. They think they believe in democracy but they really don't. They don't know what democracy is. And so we have a monthly tab of $5 billion to finance........cool, real cool! ted
