It's fairly obvious they've been trying to set themselves up as martyrs by breaking the law. A 20 year old college student would have been locked up years ago under similar circumstances. I'm afraid I have a hard time seeing cutting the fence on a military base, then hitting missile silos with hammers, as anything other than less than bright. I doubt they should go to prison, but I do think a mental facility might provide some benefit and would keep them from hurting themselves. The petty civil disobedience engaged in by members of some peace movements really doesn't accomplish much more than giving them a black eye in the minds of anyone with even a lick of common sense. The same amount of effort could just as easily go toward supporting candidates with similar views, starting a free press, forming lobby groups, etc. Playing the fool just turns a good cause into a lost cause. I'm not a pacificist. I believe that a person should be willing to fight if necessary and then do everything in their power to prevent the necessity. I don't remember who said it, but I agree with the sentiment: "Let he who desires peace be prepared for war.". By the same token, people like Bush and Rumsfeld are just as crazy as nuns with hammers for starting wars with no justification. Only a bleeding moron could have screwed up a deal as sweet as Iraq. Iraq has oil coming out of their ears, but desperately needs technology for producing potable water, medical technology and just technology in general. Something the US has in abundance. How idiots like Bush and his daddy could blow such a no brainer of a trade set up is beyond my ability to comprehend. Lower energy prices and lots of jobs for Americans, and lots of jobs and better living conditions for Iraqis. Everyone's happy, no body gets dead, and tax payers don't get stuck with a bill that our descendants will be paying for the next hundred years.
