Don, Re: How idiots like Bush and his daddy could blow such a no brainer of a trade set up is beyond my ability to comprehend. Lower energy prices and lots of jobs for Americans, and lots of jobs and better living conditions for Iraqis. Everyone's happy, no body gets dead Here's where you and I will disagree. My contention is that the policy of the U.S. government is to abate the human population of the lower Euphrates and Tigris basins. The Iraqis had already proven to be intransigent about the role of the oil companies. They were to be relegated to the role of mere contractors, with the bulk of the profits going to the Iraqi regime or trickling down to the population. The oil companies had no interest in this relationship being extended. Nor of strengthening the population by providing for its well-being. What we are witnessing today is the buildup to a similar conclusion regarding Saudi Arabia. Large populations of young Arabs in oil rich nations are destabilizing to oil company profits. For this reason, the Bushies will be doing everything possible to suppress these populations.
