Yes, it is a difficult problem. Israel will survive once the Palestinians stop being the 'designated victims'. Their leadership has duped them into maintaining a substandard lifestyle. Then, they keep the Israelis as the 'evil oppressors' by continually prodding them with a deadly stick. To their discredit, the Israelis then propagate the situation with their heavy handed tactics. Give the Palestinians their own state, remove the settlements, and let them take responsibility for their own lives. If the standard of living improves for the average Palestinian, they'll start to hold life in a higher regard, and stop following crazies like Arafat.
