Interesting article, yes the disconnect of their CC language is curious to trace (at least over the last two years).

Their technique of answering questions in certain ways can be very telling. This article really hits home the notion that they have developed a credibility problem. They answer many questions the same way they did when CHKP was growing at 50% - 75% /year....quarter after quarter after quarter. The Buffet analogy is an interesting thought. What gives?

I still think your business changes a lot when you move to a subscription based model.

So PM what do you think? Gil is setting himself up to beat the street soon, or their day in the sun has passed?

PM, this article reminds me of you,

"The company, however, has stopped growing because of one competitor NetScreen. Check Point is incapable of admitting this to the investors, the analysts, and, worst of all, to itself."
&
"In the conference call, one of the foreign analysts, who had apparently heard some juicy details about Check Point’s dispute with SofaWare Technologies, asked, “How are your relations with SofaWare?”, probably in hopes of getting some explanation about the affair. To the amazement of myself and other listeners, Check Point CEO Gil Shwed said relations were “wonderful”, without adding another word. If that’s wonderful, I wonder what “not wonderful” means. "

That's like you dude, you don't admit much, nor do you answer many questions.

Is everything really wonderful?
