First of all, Liz, it's not "one in 10 jobs", it's one in 10 computer services and software jobs. Second of all, according to the news reports, the Gartner study didn't say one in 10 of existing jobs in this arena would be eliminated, but rather that overseas positions would come to account for one in 10 of then existing positions (has anyone said what percentage they account for already?).

More importantly, "Gartner Inc., the world's biggest technology forecasting firm, warned in a new report that managers may face a shortage of computer expertise unless they adapt to what is emerging as one of corporate America's hottest employment trends." Doesn't sound like they expect jobs to be eliminated at all, Liz. It sounds like they're warning managers to look overseas because they will otherwise face shortages.

Never mind that such shifts in the labor markets are a long-running and natural part of economics. Did you know that Germany and France are losing jobs to eastern Europe?

As for "since Snow was a below average overcompensated executive from the 70s railroad industry I'm sure he has a deep handle on the situation", I mean since you are an overcompensated techie from the 90s Silly Valley boom, I'm sure you don't.

I don't think the US companies that are outsourcing the
jobs want the currencies to float. They are quite happy to
slash labor costs by half.
