Machiavelli declared that "the ends justifies the means", ie if its for some self-decided greater good if doesn't matter who you kill or torture.

He said the ruling elite know best, must keep the masses in the dark, and at times must "enter into evil" to accomplish their goals.

Those in the administration who follow this "sometimes must enter into evil" philosphy can easily be seen to justify the goodness of slaughtering 3,000 Americans, since as PNAC says there needs to be a "Pearl Harbor type incident" for the greater good of American empire, for the goodness of the world.

This applies to the Puppeteers. The Puppet only knows what is on the script. If you watch the "news" conferences you see how he follows the rehearsed instructions to the letter, and the reporters follow their approved questions, if they wish to continue to be part of the WH press corps.

What's interesting is the tide of evil is often comprised of actions by individuals who each don't do much, in their minds, that is evil. But taken in aggregate these actions become monstrous. That's combined with the scientific legacy of Herman Kahn and the RAND corporation's study of armaggeddon scenarios since the 1950s
