You forget one historical trend! Sir Winston Churchill said to conrtol Arabs keep them fed, to control Turks keep the hungry. I think US is doing all the right things in Iraq, paying the WOGs off. I believe we can still go one step further and air-drop fresh bread, dates, and mutton on Iraqi villages and have US troops distribute cash to Iraqis. All will be quiet!! George Bush knew that Iraq will not be an easy question once it is occupied. It has been one of the hotbeads of Arab nationalism and Shiite foundemantalism, so it will take time. To abondon Iraq will be even worse. We will have another Califfe, maybe worse than Saddam. The answer is to stay and hunt down all those that could pose a danger to the US of future Iraqi (friendly) regime that will follow-up. Last but not least, US needs permanent military presence in Iraq, now that Saudi Arabia has shut the door. So be it.

So you believe we should invade Pakinstan and bring in troops to the outer parts of the country,, fight the tribe leaders, kill many Pakinstan innocent people, lose american lives to capture osama?..Then lose face in United Nations for invading a friendly country and have world opinion against. I would rather lose face ,, which is your opinion I believe most Iraq people respect Americans and have seen sufficient fighting of our troops to respect them.. Just look at how their kids look up to them.
