There is a difference between assaulting someone and standing by while someone else assaults someone. The former is an active assault. The latter isn't. Not that the latter is blame free, mind you, but most on-lookers wouldn't put themselves in the same class as the assaulters. Like I said, a fine distinction done for the self-esteem of the on-looker. The victim is just as beaten up either way.

I disagree very strongly. Perhaps even more then I disagree with X. I think people have the natural right to hire or not hire anyone they want. If it is a conspiracy to exclude you maybe you have a case but if an individual doesn't want to include you, not including you is not abuse of you.

Everybody who hires one person and doesn't hire the three others who applied is differentiating. Or discriminating, if you prefer.

Am I discriminated against because I'm not allowed to sign up for military duty and benefits because of myage? Is the government working against me? Is the government working against me when it won't let me be a commercial pilot because my uncorrected eyesight is bad? Is the government working against me when it won't let me be a firefighter because I am in a wheelchair and can't lift a hose off the ground? Is a state university working against me when it won't hire me as a professor of English because I have a mental deficiency that makes it impossible for me to read and write above a third grade level?

Under your argument, I think, in all these cases the government actively is working against me. Locking me out, in your phrase.

Personally, I don't take that approach.
