Can you cite to that? Many of these studies ask their questions one way, but the media report them quite differently and often quite invalidly. I had this problem when I was doing professional polling, and I find that it hasn't gotten any better. Whenever I wonder about a cited statistic I try to go to the actual data, and often (usually!) find that the media report is not a valid application of the survey results.

BTW, I think I've mentioned it here before, but I very strongly recommend a short and fun book, "How to Lie with Statistics," by Darrell Huff. I think every person who ever has relied or might rely on a statistic shoudl read the book first. It's an eye opener!
