there are some jobs, call center may be one, which are better done elsewhere. I have called US callcenters which made me navigate through a mass of directory hierarchies, or use voice recognition sofware where I really needed to talk to a person. After all IBM has global operations in the 70s, so what. If call center is what Michael Dell is proposing, ok. Otoh if Mike Dell is going to do what Oracle did, basically move the entire company to india then somebody needs to put a stop to it. Killing the visas will help, because that is the way knowledge is transported between shores. 5 years from now I suspect a lot of this offshoring comes back to the US though, after companies like i2 who tried to become totally indian companies ... fail. After all there were hundreds of chinese based PC manufacturers to compete with Dell once. Anyone of them could have become Dell. But they did not.
