But the polls indicate an anti-davis vote and if we get close the dems can unite around one candidate and essentially dump davis. By then there will be several republicans and perhaps tens of nutcases a la larry flynt in the race. Dems could win big, get rid of davis and give california a good governor. You dont see any possibility of macchievelli rearing his ugly head in ca--perhaps feinstein or some other popular statewide figure. Is Pat Brown still alive? or earl warren for that matter for the republicans. mike
