Hi Brumar89; Re: "I've talked with Vietnamese people here in Houston. I guess their view is invalid IYO."

Maybe. If you wanted to know about the view of the American people regarding the Vietnam war, would you interview former American draft dodgers living in Canada, LOL?

The problem is that as far as opinions go, there is no such thing as "the opinion of the Vietnamese People". There are millions of different opinions. And those opinions probably change all the time.

Certainly I don't feel the same way about the Vietnam war now, that I did in 1973. Back then I was a child, now I'm a man with far more experience, understanding of history, and of course 20x20 hindsight. Back then I supported the war, (even though I figured on fighting there when I got out of high school), but now I see it as a waste of American resources that it would have been better to have stopped earlier.

But if you really want to get a bad idea about a foreign country, get your opinions from the people who {hated / feared / were disillusioned / whatever} that they ran away from it. That applies to American draft dodgers as well as Vietnamese refugees.

Correct. They are no longer Vietnamese.
