Care to substantiate that claim? Sure maybe some don't, but I believe that a large majority does.

RE:those newly "freed" people don't want us there.....

Most want us there, only ones who don't are those who benefited from the brutal, repressive regime of Saddam.

The policy of "Containing Iraq" resulted in the 9-11 attacks. Even if Saddam wasn't directly involved in the 9-11 attacks, I support changing the policy of containment (of Saddam's Iraq) - I gather you didn't.

re:"....and those newly "freed" people don't want us there....."

I'v read that some elements of the former regime, are offering money for attacking and killing American troops ($1000 to attack and $5000 if the attack kills an American). Nevertheless, some people in the region, are glad that the U.S. is there...

If you know no more about Iraq than about the American Civil War, I'd say you can safely be ignored.

And bear in mind the Civil War was primarily over the issue of slavery
Not according to Abraham Lincoln. Ever hear of him? He was President and Commander in Chief during the Civil War.

"If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that. What I do about slavery, and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save the Union; and what I forbear, I forbear because I do not believe it would help to save the Union." - Abraham Lincoln (Letter to Horace Greeley, August 22, 1862)
