It gets that way here too. Back about '90 we had 2 months where the highs ran from 97 to 102 and with the humidity 85 was about the nightly lows. High pressure dome and not a cloud or drop of rain. I remember talking to one farmer who normally got 180 bushels of corn per acre and the guess was he'd get less than 20. Plowed it under as there wasn't enough corn to pay the gas to combine it. The next year a lot of nice old trees died.
