Ten years from now, the US will be battling the Northern Alliance guerrillas in Afghanistan -- only this time, they will have a different name. And there is nothing that prevents the US-backed groups from melding with the Al Qaeda or the Taliban. Tribal loyalties keep shifting all the time. Today a warlord will take US help in crushing his rivals and tomorrow, the same warlord (or the one who assassinates him) will lead the same group in a "jehad" against US.
