Ray, I have to respectfully suggest that this article is a bit of a stretch. Rove has to be flattered that he is seen as the "Master Puppeteer." Given the origin of the recall effort and Issa's involvement with it, I don't think that the White House wanted anything to do with it. They made it plain last year that they preferred Riordan's moderation to Simon's ideological purity and they certainly did not want a rerun one year before the national election. Bush's re-election efforts comes before California politics. With Arnold running, I suspect that they will provide some support. Bush will be in California next week and it will be interesting to see if he hangs with Arnold.
