We will have to enjoy the big inefficient SUV's today, because China is going to sop up any future oil surplus. This is precisely why the French are complete fools to be obsessed about American Capitalism, doing everything in their power to stab the US in the back. By the time they realize that Asia is the new world economic powerhouse, it'll truly be too late for them. Happily, France is essentially irrelevant, even if French is still one of the languages on passports.
