I have no doubt that Hackworth was very competent in some limited and focused area of military operations. But it's also obvious to me he has entered and area where he is an ignoramus and that he does not know it means he is an idiot.

And I have no doubt that Hackworth is honest and severed well. He could very well be a real hero based upon his actions and I have no doubt he would have performed bravely any task he was called upon.

But in planning and logistics at a campaign level, never mind a theatre level is likely well beyond anything he ever dealt with.

His griping is little than the soldiers who went on TV insulting the military leadership.
