It obviously depends on how you define selfish. Like bliss, it's a word with many connotations.

But I do get their point, even if I don't agree with their term. I meet very few people who do things they really don't want to do and don't think will benefit them in any way. They are always, IMO, seeking some reward, whether it be the internal satisfaction of fulfilling a duty, the desire for public approval, the need to prove to oneself that one is brave, or whatever. It's just a question, I think, whether or not you term that selfishness.
