Hiya,

Well, that's a mighty brief answer to a mighty strong indictment of the liars in the White House. Did you actually get a chance to read the AP piece before you responded? If not, you might want to go back and review.

Because it seems that the entire justification for going to war in Iraq is a phony house of cards. Almost the entirety of Powell's presentation on February 5 was bogus innuendo and at best half-truths. And a lot of it was outright lying.

Doesn't this trouble you?

Here's another one of my pet peeves about Dubya. He seems to be swindling the American taxpayer when he makes his forays out into the country to attend his fund-raisers and collect his bribes. He cleverly finds a gimmick to make you and me pay for his trips. It don't seem fair. Here's the article on this abuse of power:

Nguyen-Win Situation

President Bush owes 18-year-old Phuong Nguyen a debt of gratitude for more than just the volunteer work she does for the Red Cross. He owes her for making time to see him.

The president’s visit with Nguyen prior to a $1 million fundraiser in Denver added a non-campaign "event" to his swing through Colorado. And that saved the campaign a lot of money, the Rocky Mountain News reports.

"If Bush had done nothing but show up at the Wings Over the Rockies Museum for his $2,000-a-plate fund-raiser, the entire cost of flying Air Force One to Denver could have been billed to the campaign," the paper said.

The "non-campaign" status afforded by the meeting with Nguyen means Bush only has to reimburse the government for the equivalent of first-class air fare for himself and his aides.

"They get away with pennies on the dollar," said Paul Sanford of the Center for Responsive Politics.
