Thanks for the confirmation on the Shark. You know, they're not very expensive so it might still be worth having one knowing that it won't last long.

Re product reviews on the net, the new Bissell Steam Vac that I used on my carpet worked very well, I thought. I read horrible reviews on that, mostly from people complaining that it leaked. One woman said she replaced hers three times before she gave up. Perhaps she was just not seating the liquid containers right. It is a bit tricky.

And my cassette player, the one I use at the pool, I nearly didn't buy because one review said it skipped at the slightest movement. Mine didn't do that. It has proved very durable. I've even gotten it wet a couple of times and had water pouring out when I opened it up but it keeps on ticking.

So, you just don't know.

My carpet looks terrific. Wonder how long that will last...
