Only if you use a very modern definition of conservatism. Remember that conservatism use to mean "keeping the best of what we've got" - i.e. all change is not progress. I don't think that Bob Taft, Dwight Eisenhower or even AuH2O would have fit their profile well. Anyone who remembers Goldwater's tightly argued points, would have a hard time claiming he had a "dislike of nuance".

OTOH, the neo-fascism that passes for conservatism today is another matter. That neo-fascists resemble old time fascists is hardly a revelation. Exhibiting the psychological foundation is. Would you happen to have a link to the study's report?
