I am trying to guess the National ramifications of this California turnover. If things go as they are now, we will end up with Arnold as Governor of a legislature and bureaucracy that hates him. He will propose a fix that the legislature will turn down, and go after them in the '04 election.

The Dems are going to come out of this looking bad in California. Wasteful spendthrifts. I don't think it will make it possible for Bush to carry California, but the Dems will have to spend a lot more time and money to hold it than they planned. It will stretch them further. And Boxer might go down, if the Republicans don't commit suicide again with a social conservative candidate like Simon.

In any case, it churns up the mix. We will have some fun and games the next 60 days.
