The U.N. would cease to exist without America's leadership and financial backing. They couldn't protect the Iraqi people from the Bathist coming back in power, just as they were inept in dealing with Milosovic. The worlds only superpower had to deal with the cruelty and genocidal nature of those dictators, just as they will have to deal with them in the future.

Foreign policy is more than talking around a bunch of round tables. If you don't have the guts to put into action all those fine words and sentiments, it's a big waste of time. America demonstrated that some countries such as France were unwilling to actually put their high sounding words, written into U.N. resolutions into action.

Bottom line: the U.N. is a hollow shell without the United States.
