Tigerpaw, a large reason that there is no longer regional isolation, is because large urban centers do not want power plants (and the pollution they create) in their own backyards any more than they have to. But if you think that urban centers like LA or NY should have the power plants to fill their needs, within metropolitan NY or LA, I'm sure your in a very small minority.
