Ted, What's your reaction to the blackout and the role nuclear plants played in the cascade effect? Are they saying what actually started it happening? I am curios what they are telling you guys. As I said in my previous post, you probably know more about what happened than the 50 million people affected by it. But if you have some good links, you can send some my way. I would like to learn more. Joe

BTW, I ended up walking almost 70 blocks to get home from work yesterday, and I was one of the lucky ones. There were people that were stranded or had to walk more. This morning, I went to work on Rollerblades (see my picture here: siliconinvestor.com I went by some hotels, and they were so overcrowded that they ended up taking over the sidewalks around their hotel. They gave people blankets to sleep on the sidewalks. But around my apartment, last night, it was party time. People were partying in bars like I have never seen before. Since there was no recorded music, there was a guy walking around with pipes (I guess they tried to make drinking warm beer more authentically British). The bar across the street from me has a piano, and it was a popular destination yesterday. The only thing that I worried about is these drunk people going home to their apartments and handling open fire (matches and candles). People in high rise buildings got a lot of excersise walking up and down the stairs. And I am not even talking about building employees. They had to escort a lot of people up the stairwells, since a lot of them were completely dark. Unlike the horror stories of 1977 black-outs, the city is completely different, no incidents were reported. Joe
