That's true. We're all human. I try to be as moral as possible, but I'm still human and prone to the same human character flaws as everyone else. Sure, I've lied and cheated (even stolen a candy bar or two) in my life. But, one has to try to make ammends for his or her past wrongs and be the best person they can be going forward.

And true, morality is the eye of the beholder. I find Bill Bennet and his ilk immoral for trying to force their brand of morality on everyone else. Bill Bennet, Mr. Virtues himself, of course has a huge problem with gambling that has recently been revealed. It's funny how conservatives love to preach morals to people, but all their morals are thrown out the window when the almighty do$$ar is introduced into the picture.

All I'm saying is that if you see things that aren't right in the world, and you're not a totally immoral and selfish person, you have an obligation to speak up and try to change things for the better. I'm sure a lot of conservatives feel that way and that's why they participate in these Christian groups like the Moral Majority that they think are making the world a more moral and better place.

People from the left feel the same way, but see the moral issues in a different light than conservatives. For example, a conservative might get really upset about all the children who are prevented from entering the world as a result of abortion. But, a leftist (like myself) might take a much broader view of the situation and find it immoral that our economic system has created a class of haves and have nots in which the have nots can't afford to properly raise their children, which perhaps even leads them to have more abortions. Or, the fact that the U.S. government foreign policy has been responsible for the deaths of millions of people in the 3rd world and has made life miserable for millions more. That to me is immoral. To bring a child into this world that is so damn unfair and our country has a lot to do with why the situation is that way. That our own government has installed and actively supported brutal and murderous regimes (which benefit the wealthy elite) throughout the 3rd world. A conservative might write this off as being part of the capitalist system that is inevitable and say that we should concentrate on moral issues at home like abortion. So, as you say morality IS in the eye of the beholder.
