I haven't ever studied the constitution as closely as I should, but what you just said implies that the states must issue coins made of gold and silver, not certificates.

I think GoldMoney is a good idea but I think the power of Congress to "coin money and regulate the value therof" [probably misquoted by me] might be instanced as prohibiting a privately-issued money based on a commodity.

Maybe not. It might be interesting to ask a consitutional law authority about this.

To get back to my original point, has anyone reading this message ever sold a Krugerrand?
