Reagan was extremely telegenic, and projected an image of grandfatherly wisdom and charm. Unfortunately, that image was not the truth. His leadership was largely in name only, suffering the same 'men behind the curtains' as Bush.

Given that his political adversaries were Carter and Mondale, it's no wonder that he did so well. You and I could have won on a ticket versus Mundane Mondale.

Let's meet back here in 50 years and see how history treats the two of them relatively speaking.
