Haim:

I agree completely and in fact, I think China is already positioned where it can exert serious pressure on US policy. Most folk are unaware that China is the second largest holder of US debt paper. And it has already threatened to convert some of it to gold. If they ever do this in a serious way, an already ugly financial situation in the US would become much nastier. Of course, it would also be expensive for China.

What amazes me is that very few investors seem to be concerned with respect to the remarkable acceleration that is taking place in the US economic deterioration. The massive deficits alone ought to be causing fear and trepitation but little of this is in evidence. Time is running out on the US and I can see no way to modulate the hit when it comes.

Best, Earlie

Haim, >>over 5% of GDP in trade deficit and 4.5% in budget deficit<<

Do you have idea that what is the percentage of interest payment on these debt/deficit?

>>The way I see it China is accumulating USD assets as are other not so friendly governments/entities. <<

Do you have proof that China is continuing to accumulate USD assets now? I doubt it, yes, China has not sold any yet, but not much continuous accumulation either.

Haim you are probably right that such a program is in the making...lucky for us the tactics to defeat it are well rehearsed in history. Extortion on a National level is pretty ballsy, on an international level its down right insane as is being proved right now. I suspect your right that the US haters will attempt such a tactic, but...i suspect that they dont have a clue about the effects and how they not we will be hurt.

Haim, looks like Saudi Islamic extremists are now going to Iraqi to fight the US before the US could get its hands on Saudi soil.

Increasing numbers of Saudi Arabian Islamists are crossing the border into Iraq in preparation for a jihad, or holy war, against US and UK forces, security and Islamist sources have warned.

A senior western counter-terrorism official on Monday said the presence of foreign fighters in Iraq was "extremely worrying".
