All that really happened was that his need to protect himself and his family from embarrasment intersected with a fine point of law.

It does not mean that he is not a law abiding citizen otherwise. Nor is it a measure of his ability to lead this country.

The whole story was raised to a crescendo by the Repubilcan dirty tricks department, spearheaded by Linda Tripp and Ken Starr.

Bush lied in the State of the Union address. This is the most important Constitutionaly mandated transfer of information in the country. He lied when it mattered, about life and death issues.
