p!ssed Careful with that "!". That got me suspended. :-) I remember in 1998 I had to negotiate with a bunch of elderly long time property owners to get rentals for my employees in San Mateo area. So you think there should be an upper age limit on property ownership? Sounds like it. To talk to these people, you'd think THEY founded Oracle. Free speech is still the law of the land. They are entitled to their opinions. You are entitled to disagree with their opinions. They were out of state landlords. So you think out-of-state persons and companies should be banned from owning land in CA? Would you like to know how far that will go in the federal courts? They wanted 10K/mo for their tract home in some cases. If you can get a better deal elsewhere, take it. Otherwise you pay or leave. This is called "the free market". If you were in their position and knew you could get $10K, would you only charge $2K? Would it make a difference whether you lived in CA or not? Would your age matter? When they read that yahoo had a good quarter, they would call me up and demand a 25% rent increase which would have been $1000 more per month per tenant in the house, and my employees only take home $3-$4K/month. Not my fault if you underpay your employees. Their fault if they put up with it, though. And again: They are in business. Do you honestly expect them to charge less than market rates? And again: Do you think the rates would be any less without 13? Why? I think you are pissed because they were making more money than YOU think they should. Tough. In a free market, they are entitled to make whatever they can. Your choice is pay it, buy your own place, or leave. lot of real simpletons lived in CA 30 years ago and without any ability to generate wealth themselves You mean the ones who invented the first personal computers? Or the ones who invented the first microprocessors? Or the first practical ICs? Which simpletons are you referring to? I'd suggest you hunker down with some good history of technology texts before you make charges like that. Frankly, you sound like you have no idea what you're talking about. now they own a bunch of land scot free which should have been taken from them by the free market years ago. Pray tell, how does the free market take anything away from anyone? Are you talking about the free market that comes in the form of cops or soldiers with guns? That's the one statists like. So how would the free market have taken anything from them? As the value of the land increased, their taxes would increase, and they'd pass the increase on to you, the tenant. And an increase in the average value of land would happen because the average tenant could pay it. Maybe not you, but the average tenant. So you you REALLY think you'd get lower rents that way? As soon as prop 13 is dead and buried Don't hold your breath. Youi'll be dead a long time before that happens. Ahnie was on CNBC this morning doing damage control on what Buffet the Mouth had done to him. He was backpeddling away from "Repeal 13!" as fast as he could. Oh, BTW, he said he supports 13.

Lizzie, Did you happen to see Schwarz.etc's press conference today? He clearly chastised Warren Buffett for bringing up Prop. 13, though he did keep him on the podium. What's going on with this two-faced candidate? You clearly understand that Prop. 13 has created illegitimate wealth, as does Warren Buffett. But Schwarz.etc lies to us about how he won't touch the Prop. 13 lottery winners. What's up with this? Is Arnold a phony, steroidal derived avatar? Is he some sort of Orwellian nightmare descending on California? Today, he proved conclusively that the truth and Arnold exist in separate universes.
