Changing details in the UN compound bombing.

<font color=purple> In the attack on Tuesday, the deadliest ever against the organization, a suicide bomber drove a flatbed truck loaded with 1,500 pounds of explosives up to the wall of the compound and set it off.

The American official said the investigators had determined that the Russian-made truck was not registered with the Iraqi government, meaning that it may have entered the country after the war.

All the early reports said it was a cement truck. You would think the witnesses would find the distinction pretty obvious.

( 2003-08-20 16:37) (Agencies)

United Nations workers were told to stay at home Wednesday after a <font color=blue>cement truck<font color=brown> packed with explosives blew up outside the offices of the top U.N. envoy in Iraq, killing him and 19 other people. The FBI was leading the search through the rubble for clues<font color=black>

When details start changing the story often gets more interesting.

<font color=brown>Initial reports by Iraqis and some U.S. officials said a cement truck smashed through the gate or through a cement-block security wall. Fuentes said the truck never entered the compound, but exploded on an unguarded road adjacent to the wall, about 10 yards from the building. The blast gouged a 6-foot-deep crater in the ground and collapsed a corner of the building where de Mello's office and a humanitarian assistance center were.<font color=black>

It could be that witnesses weren't sure which truck blew up, or it could be that the Rumsfeld office of disinformation want's to set the stage to blame the attack on Syria.
