Hi, Jewel.

When women infected with AIDS have children in the third world, and die, their infected or uninfected children are often fated to waste away from the disease, or from starvation, in the gutter, or in a dark hut attended only by the maggots crawling in and out of their noses. This is an old conversation, Jewel. Maybe you missed it.

To give Bush some limited credit, he proposed not long ago to reinstate the funding and eliminate the conservative gag rule. This rule deprives of funds any family planning/prenatal services clinic that even informs an imporverished AIDs-infected pregnant third world woman (who may already have six skinny children at home) at home about the option of abortion elsewhere.

"Limited credit" because the funds haven't yet been released, as of not long ago. Political pressure is being brought by (mostly conservative, I believe) fanatics whose agenda gives the suffering of starving, possibly diseased, orphans a relative low priority.

Here are some stats that are interesting, albeit presented in a weird format.
