What Reactive Power Compensations does

siemens.fi

It appears that Thomas Alva Edson launched the public electricity utility but the public utilities have only milked the plant for every cent and not put anything into it. Hence the trouble.

Public utilities don't want to invest for the benefit of the consumer. To pass to them the lower costs enabled by the application of new technology. They just pass their costs to the customer and do nothing.

They would continue for the next 100 years and all those companies that have put R&D to take advantage of the newer technology for the sake of efficiency and safety will not have a market for their products.

It was necessary for someone to do his "magic" in the system so that now they upgrade it. Time for someone to do his 'magic' too on the telephone system or the FCCC would continue to protect the Baby Bells forever!!!

Elmat, <<Let me know when you're arrving at KL>> ... will do.

BTW, are the Brazilian common folks interested in sending more diplomats and/or troops to Iraq? Are they pissed off at losing one of their good citizens? What are the common folks thinking?

Chugs, Jay

Elmat,

Re: HVDC --

Here's a brief description of a High Voltage DC intertie that has been used for decades between the Columbia River and Los Angeles. It's part of the Bonneville Power Administration's system.

bpa.gov

The salient quote is that conversion to HVDC allows for nearly loss-less transmission over the 864 miles route.
